A BIT MORE ABOUT ME AND NO SHOES TODAY
Well I think it’s time to delve into my blog more and tell you what it’s going to be about. In a nutshell, it’s going to be about budget travel without sacrificing comfort and having to leave things out. Travel is for EVERYONE!
I have spent a lot of time abroad on family holidays but straight after University, I booked an 8 month round the world trip with my best friend. And what a crazy dream filled, bucket-list-ticked-off whirlwind it was! I can honestly say it was the best thing I’ve ever done. This is the biggest trip I have done and it’s left me absolutely desperate for more. So, if I can finish University, work in a very average job for less than a year to be able to go on this kind of trip then anyone can!
Since then I have been on a whole bunch of other trips, mostly long weekends away but these can be particularly heavy on the ole’ bank account. So I am going to make sure that budgeting for all types of travel is covered!
In general I’m a very frugal kind of person. I genuinely don’t see the point in paying full price if you don’t have to. I mean, what’s the point in that? You get the same amazing stuff/experiences so why let it drain your wallet? I hunt for bargains, vouchers, tricks, tips everywhere I go, and this stretches straight into travelling. I’ve definitely been called fiery before but sometimes this goes my way. Let’s just say I kinda live by ‘if you don’t ask you don’t get’. But don’t get me wrong, I have no time for rudeness!
So, why ‘No Shoes Today’? Well, there really isn’t anything complicated about it, I just don’t like wearing shoes if I don’t have to. There’s just something about being bare foot that screams relaxation and comfort for me. Think about it, in the most relaxing places where you feel completely at home, is there ever a need for shoes? Don’t think so!
No Shoes Today is for all of us out there who don’t have a tonne of cash spare laying around, but who love to travel. I like to travel in a way that doesn’t mean I am living off plain pasta and bread in hostels, as for me, travel is about finding the balance of doing what you want to do without having to massively sacrifice everything. I have personally found that searching for value rather than just the cheapest to be the way to go for this!
